Burning Youth Theatre Experience (BYTE); for ages 13-18

REQUIRED Exit Sessions for Federal Direct Loans

Please note the following information for exit interviews REQUIRED for all students who are graduating or transferring out this spring – who have Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans.  If you do not complete an Exit Session your diploma and transcripts will be held until the Exit Session has been completed.

Graduation this Saturday!


Waldorf College will hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 2 p.m., at the John K. and Luise V. Hanson Fieldhouse. The Honorable Merlin Bartz, Iowa State Senator (District 6), will deliver the commencement address. A baccalaureate service will precede the event at 10:30 a.m. in the Atrium.

Wellness Center Summer Hours

The Wellness Center will be open regular hours on Monday, April 26.
Final exam hours:

Open 6-8:30pm only

The WC will be closed on Friday, April 30 and will not open again until Monday, May 10.

Starting May 10, summer (May 10 – July 23) wn classes are in session, the Wellness Center will be open Monday-Thursday, 3:30-5:30pm.

Pro-Wrestlers to Appear at Warrior Smackdown this Friday!

Impact Pro Wrestling will entertain inside the ring at the “Warrior Smackdown” on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Waldorf College Atrium. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $8 for adults and teens and $5 for children ages 4-12 – are available at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase at the Warrior Crossing café in the Atrium.

Offering “fast and furious” pro-wrestling action, the event will feature world champion wrestler, Tony Sly, as well as performers Sparrow, Nicky Free and a special appearance by Waldorf’s mascot, Wally the Warrior. For more information about the wrestlers, visit www.impactprowrestling.com.

Shop at the Mall of America!

Travel to Minneapolis, MN to shop at the Mall of America on Saturday, April 24.

The bus will leave Waldorf at 8:30 a.m. and return at 10 p.m. It is only $5 to reserve your seat on the bus! Reservations can be made at the CIC. The trip is sponsored by Student Life.

That day there will also be a 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Minnesota Vikings! The team will be available for autographs and Vikings memorabilia will be on display throughout the mall.

Scandinavian Pianist to Perform Tonight

Scandinavian pianist Jens Elvekjaer will perform on Monday, April 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m. The performance is part of the Waldorf Community Artist Series and is open to the public.

Elvekjaer, a native of Copenhagen, is one of Scandinavia's leading young pianists and Denmark's first Steinway Artist. He has won top prizes in some of Europe’s most prestigious international competitions and has performed widely around the world. Elvekjaer's début CD (music by Debussy, Ravel and Franck) was nominated as Best Solo Album in the 2007 Danish Music Awards, and was hailed as “an extraordinary release . . . performances radiant with talent” by Denmark’s foremost newspaper, Politiken.

Creative Writing Thesis Reading Tuesday, April 20

Join the Waldorf College Creative Writing program Tuesday, April 20, at 8 p.m. in the Art Gallery for thesis readings by senior creative writing majors Elyse Erickson, Noel Priester, and Katie Mullaly—and for the release of Volume 3 of Crusader: A Journal of Engaged Writing!


This beautifully designed issue of Crusader features work by Salveson Prize winners and finalists Kara Searcy, Lauren Trembath, Elyse Erickson, Katie Mullaly, and Josh Otterman, as well poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and photography by many members of the Waldorf College community!

Waldorf Surpasses Goal at Blood Drive!

Thanks to Waldorf students, faculty, staff and friends for donating blood at the drive held April 9. We collected 56 units of blood, surpassing the 50-unit goal!

New-age musician to perform benefit concert for Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund

Pianist Donovan Johnson, former Waldorf student, will perform a benefit concert of new-age piano music at the college on Friday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Odvin Hagen Recital Hall. The concert is open to the public. Donations will be accepted for the American Red Cross in support of the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

Johnson is the owner/operator of the Omaha Centre for Piano and is the co-founder of "Prairie Desert Music," a music production company in Omaha, Neb. He has performed nationally and internationally, including the Unity UK annual celebration in London. Johnson has also performed with national recording artist Lalomie Washburn.

Johnson has been composing, arranging, recording and performing in the Omaha area for eleven years. His works include pieces for musical groups, films, and commercials, as well as his own compositions. Samples of his music can be found at www.donovanjohnson.net.

5th Annual Golf Outing for Warrior Boosters


The Waldorf Warriors Boosters invites you to their 5th annual Golf Outing on Saturday, June 26, 2010.

You do not have to be a good golfer to participate in this four-person BEST SHOT tournament. The cost of the event is $50 and includes a meal at the end of the day. There are lots of GREAT prizes and everyone goes home with something.

Shakespeare Masquerade Ball- Saturday, April 24

The Shakespeare Masquerade Ball will be Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. in the Atrium. The event is sponsored by Alpha Psi Omega.

Come dressed as your favorite Shakespeare character and win prizes for best character and best couple.

Costumes may be rented Monday, April 19 in the basement of Nilssen-Boe for $2.50 to $5.

To prepare for the revelry, Elizabethan dance lessons will be held in the Atrium on the night of Thursday, April 22.

New recycling bin outside Warrior Crossing!

The Green Committee, with sponsorship from Student Senate, has furnished a new recycling station for paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum cans located just outside Warrior Crossing across from the Atrium restrooms. This new central location will hopefully encourage more recycling on campus.

Theatre Students Present "Peer Gynt"

Waldorf College Theatre students will present Henrik Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt,” April 7 – 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Theatre. Tickets may be reserved by emailing theatre@waldorf.edu or calling the Waldorf College Theatre Box Office at 641-585-8585. Prices are $8 for general admission, $6 for senior citizens and $2 for Waldorf students.

In this Norwegian tale, Peer Gynt is a selfish and imaginative young man who disregards the community identity of rural Norway and leaves to shape a new identity in his own head. Ibsen’s play brings the audience along on the adventures Peer experiences throughout his life including a journey through a troll-inhabited mountain, along the vast Moroccan desert, Cairo, and upon a ship at sea, finally bringing him back to reality and the woman he loves as he discovers what it is to be one’s self.

Exit Sessions Required for Federal Perkins Loans

For students who have a Federal Perkins Loan with Waldorf College and will be graduating or leaving at the end of spring term 2010, (NOT returning to Waldorf) an exit interview MUST be conducted concerning the loan before leaving campus. Start scheduling your interview session now. The interview session takes approximately 30 minutes and will be held in room 206 on the 2nd floor of Salveson. You will need a blue pen and your contact information. All transcripts and your diploma will be held until this exit is completed.

Sign up for the annual 3K3 Walk-Run-Wag

People and pups alike are invited to attend the fourth annual Waldorf College “3K3 Walk-Run-Wag” race on Thursday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Participants may register in advance or the day of the race at the John K. & Luise Hanson Fieldhouse. The race will begin in the fieldhouse parking lot. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Three optional loops, each 3K in length, will be marked for walkers, runners and “waggers” (pets). Individuals may choose to do just one (1.86 miles), two (3.72 miles), or all three (5.58 miles) loops.


The cost of the event is $10 for students of any age and $15 for other adult participants, which includes a long-sleeved t-shirt if registered by April 14. Registration materials are available at the Waldorf athletic department on the second floor of the John K. & Luise Hanson Fieldhouse or by calling 641-585-8182.
