Welcome back, students, employees: The week ahead

Welcome back, Waldorf students. And a special welcome to our new students.

Here is a look at what is happening this week on campus.
Tuesday, Jan. 11
  • Canceled: JV men’s wrestling dual vs. North Iowa Area Community College, 4 p.m., Hanson Fieldhouse gym
  • Varsity men's basketball vs. Faith Baptist Bible College, 7:30 p.m., Hanson Fieldhouse gym
  • Student Senate, 8 p.m., Breen Classroom
  • Worship: Exit to Hope, 9 p.m., Odvin Hagen Music Center Recital Hall. This service, led by students, offers contemporary worship, Bible study and prayer.
Wednesday, Jan. 12
  • Chapel, 10:30 a.m., Salveson Ballroom. This is a traditional worship service with sermons given by students and employees.
Thursday, Jan. 13
  • Student organization roundtable, noon, Anna Marie Mitchell Meeting Room.
  • JV men’s basketball vs. William Penn University, 7 p.m., Hanson Fieldhouse gym
  • Worship: ACTS (Active Catholics to Serve), Catholic Mass, 9 p.m., Odvin Hagen Music Center Recital Hall
Friday, Jan. 14
  • Worship: Holden Evening Prayer service, 5:10 p.m., Odvin Hagen Music Center Recital Hall.
  • Movie Night, Forest Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Students may pick up free tickets at the Campus Center information desk. Held throughout the semester.
  • Open gym, 8 to 11 p.m., Hanson Fieldhouse.
Saturday, Jan. 15
  • Comedian Evan Wecksell, 7:30 p.m., Gatsby's Grill. Students: Free nachos will be served!
Sunday, Jan. 16
  • Movie Night, Forest Theatre, 3 p.m., 5 p.m. Students may pick up free tickets at the Campus Center information desk. Held throughout the semester.
Monday (Jan. 17)
  • MLK Convocation: Iowa native Patti Miller, who as a young activist helped catapult the civil rights movement into the national spotlight in the mid-1960s, will tell her inspiring story from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the Atrium on the Waldorf College campus. The campus will be using a convocation schedule.
  • Chapel, 7 p.m., Odvin Hagen Music Center Recital Hall. This new service replaces the Sunday night chapel service. This is a traditional worship service with sermons by students and employees.
Warrior Crossing/Gatsby’s Grill update: Dining services have adjusted the hours for both locations based on how much each was used last semester. The new hours are:
  • Warrior Crossing Cafe: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Warrior Crossing was open until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday last semester.
  • Gatsby’s Grill: 7 p.m. to midnight, Sunday through Friday; closed Saturday. Gatsby’s opened at 3 p.m. on Sundays last semester for students to catch NFL games.
The cafeteria hours remain the same.
