Scandinavian pianist Jens Elvekjaer will perform on Monday, April 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m. The performance is part of the Waldorf Community Artist Series and is open to the public.
Elvekjaer, a native of Copenhagen, is one of Scandinavia's leading young pianists and Denmark's first Steinway Artist. He has won top prizes in some of Europe’s most prestigious international competitions and has performed widely around the world. Elvekjaer's début CD (music by Debussy, Ravel and Franck) was nominated as Best Solo Album in the 2007 Danish Music Awards, and was hailed as “an extraordinary release . . . performances radiant with talent” by Denmark’s foremost newspaper, Politiken.
For those who do not have a Waldorf Artist Series membership, tickets may be purchased at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for students. For more information, contact the Waldorf music department at 641-585-8177 or music@waldorf.edu.
